Another Day in Obamaland

A few Packers headlines

The coaches say no, but Kampman isn’t talking.

Maybe he’ll play in a whole six games this year.

Collins wants a new deal, plus his father died a couple weeks ago. Driver may want a new deal, too.

Two words: Pay, and Them.

And finally:

I guess anything that covers up more of that face…

Word is Rodgers looks sharp in practice. Well, great, he looked sharp in games last year, most of the time. This is the year he shows us whether we can count on him to be sharp, or whether we can count on him to WIN GAMES.

Ed Garvey is off the reservation

I know, I harped on this last week. Sue me. I enjoy it.

Ed Garvey, the Uber-Lefty's Uber-Lefty, just can't stand Democrats these days:

Common sense MIA: Whatever your view of the budget, you may feel the urge to up-chuck over this item reported in JS: The majority rushed to finish the budget in time for a "fundraiser for Democratic Senators" scheduled for 9:30 this morning. Whoa Nelly!

And Herb Kohl can rest easy because his fellow Dems voted to spend $5 million on the Bradley Center. Buckle your seat belts--next they will agree to fund a new arena in Milwaukee--home of the hapless Bucks.
Dems better watch themselves, or Garvey’ll be supporting some other party come election time.

Snort! Ha! I can’t believe I wrote that with a straight face!

One good thing about the new budget

Most of, if not all of the felons who will be released from Wisconsin Prisons due to the new Budget(Thanks Mark Pocan and Governor Doyle)will move back to Dane and Milwaukee Counties. I personally hope they all move into the neighborhoods where our socialist friends live.

You get what you deserve and lets hope the Socialists get theirs from this act.

The State of Wisconsin keeps sliding down the slippery slope

Early this morning the State of Wisconsin took another huge step towards being even more of a tax hell.

"Joint Finance OKs budget in early morning vote"

It is amazing no real cuts and lots of higher taxes, it is becoming the Wisconsin Way.

Elections have consequences and all these fools who voted for the Socialists are going to reap what they sow.

Why does anyone who can leave still live in this state?

At some point you have to wonder if the people of this state will wake up to the evil they have put in power in Madison. Will they see the long term damage their choices are causing. Once again the fools who live in Dane and Milwaukee Counties are going on a tax bing and the rest of us are going to be forced to pick up the tab.

Sometimes I wonder if it is even worth trying to stop these assholes the vast majority of the people in this state fall into the class of looters they do not pay taxes so they could care less that the minority of us who actually do the heavy lifting are getting crushed. But they do not care as long as they get their handout from Madison they are oblivious to how our once great state is circling the bowl.

It is a sad day to be a Badger

'Judges’ proper roles are limited. Their job is not to choose the best policy or decide who they would like to win the case, but apply the law evenly'

So says Robert Alt and, as of last November, 70% of American voters.

Not everyone sees it that way; they're pushing the 'don't fight it, you'll only look like a tool' strategy of debate.

Which is the strategy of losers. And the disengenuous who know that our court system was built to allow for compassion and human consideration to be included in the process already.
Sotomayer and Obama want something else entirely. My guess? She'll probably be confirmed. She'll also have an uphill fight trying to get around Roberts.

There's a light

Will they reopen the Janesville GM plant?

If General Motors can successfully reorganize or emerge from a likely bankruptcy, the automaker has agreed to use one of its idled plants to build small cars that it isn't producing anywhere else in the United States.

And the fact that GM will do so at an idled plant where the local union has ratified a competitive operating agreement leads to an obvious question: Could the automaker's Janesville plant be the one retooled to annually crank out about 160,000 compact cars?

On one hand, a union summary of the tentative agreement reached last week between the United Auto Workers and GM supports the notion.

On the other, however, it dispels it.

Talk fit for any union thug!

For some reason it's got this song running through my head. Sing it with me, Susan:

Still looking for the MJS coverage of the state budget from the weekend

I might have missed it but I cannot seem to find any coverage of what the Socialists were doing this weekend in Madison.

Wouldn't it be nice if the paper had some coverage of what the Joint Fiance Committee was doing to screw us all over.

A hat tip to Grumps

Just for fun I decided to go down the list of Liberal/Socialist/Progressive blogs we have in our side bar and see if any had a Memorial Day Post.

Grumps was the only one of the whole lot who had a Memorial day post and he should be commended for it.

As for the rest of them, shame on the whole lot of you. A lot of brave men and women had died defending the rights you are all in such hurry to give away, you could at least take a moment once a year to acknowledge their sacrifice.

I will be honest I have never bought the whole Lefty "We Support the Troops" mantra.

And yes there were Conservative blogs that did not do a Memorial Day post but there were a large number that did.

Ed Garvey is very, very disappointed

Governor Jim Doyle seems to be losing ol' Ed:

...why would a Democratic governor cut school aid, lay off state workers, cut aid to local government, and threaten to cut more jobs unless the unionized state employees agree to reduce their pay "or else"? (No bargaining? Bad faith? You betcha. Is that how Democrats negotiate in good faith with the union? "My way or the highway?" Heck, Tommy treated state employees better than that.)

I don't get it. Isn't it time Jim Doyle opted to lead? Leadership in these tough times would require him to step on lots of Gucci slippers worn by the big campaign contributers.
Not that Governor Doyle ever really had Ed.

President Obama, on the other hand, did have Ed. But:

When W. spoke about "preventive detention" or repeal of habeas corpus, we all knew in head and gut he had no idea what he was talking about. Ignorance cloaked in gibberish.

Poor Barack. He knows what he is saying when he talks about holding people without a trial forever(?). He taught constitutional law.

Yesterday, Obama talked about "preventive detention" and "prolonged detention" for people in our custody. My conclusion? Cheney's baiting worked. By going head-to-head with the nutty veep, O sounded more like W and Cheney than candidate Obama.
Obama equals Dubya? Ouch. Time to call for impeachment!

Aaaah! Nature! I got nature all over me!

Look what we found in the yard the other day:

Yep, that's a deer. Bedding down in the twelve feet or so between my house and the neighbor's.

Not the first time we've had deer in our yard. Two years ago, day after Thanksgiving, we found four of them bedding down in the back. Trying to avoid all the hunters. And that's after we hunted all opening weekend and saw bupkus.

Also: yes, we are exactly the kind of rednecks who leave the Christmas wreath up even into May.

And now we're gonna hafta leave it longer:

At least long enough for those guys to be more than just a mouthful.

Danica takes 3rd

Danica Patrick finished third in the 2009 Indianapolis 500. That's her second top-5 finish, and her fourth top-10 finish in five years.

Danica jumping to NASCAR soon?

The Indianapolis 500 started just a few minutes ago, so naturally, we're asking whether Danica Patrick is headed to NASCAR:

The Indianapolis 500 is Sunday and we know this because we’ve been treated to a month of questions to Danica Patrick about when she’s going to give NASCAR a try.

It’s a sign of how far general interest in open-wheel racing, not to mention its signature event, has fallen. The hard-core fans will still turn out and tune in this weekend, but it’s saying something when the most asked question is about the future of a driver who isn’t even a favorite to win the race.
I've gotta say, that sounds like a good move. Danica would be a sponsorship magnet, even if she never won a race. Plus, NASCAR has so much more visibility in the U.S. IRL might be more popular internationally, but I'd guess that's not nearly as lucrative.

Say, how much do they charge for those decals? Think we could get a BBA one on her car?

Or maybe a slightly better shooting posture?

Apropos of absolutely nothing:

I got suckered into clicking this link over at Instapundit: Six tips for coping with the fact that you don’t remember a person’s name.

Problem being, this thing is useless for me. I forget people's names pretty easy, and so I've already used every suggestion in this list:

1. The “I know your name, but I’m blocked” dodge:
“I keep wanting to call you "David," but I know that’s not right.”

2. The “Of course I know you -- in fact, I want all your information” dodge: “Hey, I’d love to get your card.”

3. The “The tip of my tongue” dodge:
“I know I know your name, but I’m blanking right now.”

4. The “You’re brilliant!” dodge:
“Wow, you have a terrific memory. I can’t believe you remember my name from that meeting six months ago. I can’t remember the names of people I met yesterday! So of course I have to ask you your name.”

5. The “Sure, I remember you” dodge:
“Remind me – what’s your last name?” If you ask a person for his last name, he’s likely to repeat both names. “Doe, John Doe.”

6. The “One-sided introduction” dodge:
“Hey,” you say to the person whose name you can’t remember, “let me introduce you to Pat Smith.” You introduce the two and say the name of the person whose name you remember. Almost always, the nameless person will volunteer his or her name.
What I need is tips on how not to forget people's names.

Question for PETA or DNR?

Is it stealing if a gorilla takes a banana that happens to be in a Kwiki Mart?

The big hairy beast burst into Erber's shop on Park Avenue about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday to try to steal the $50 item, WLUK reported.

"Somebody dressed in a gorilla suit entered the store and was apparently trying to take a large banana that they had as part of a banana display," said police Capt. Steve Klein. There was a scuffle during which an employee tried to rip off the gorilla-suited thief's mask — discovering the culprit was a woman.

After that robbery was foiled, the fake ape reportedly went to a nearby Kwik Trip on Johnson Street and attempted the same crime. And it — she? — returned for a third try later.

The Park Avenue store staff is trying to lure the gorilla back so they can catch her.

"We're going to hang it up again tomorrow, see what happens," Erber told WLUK.

There are gorillas in Wisconsin, aren't there?

Does anyone really believe this?

And another thing... Bailout edition

Chris makes a good comment here that brings up the bank bailout, which I have a question about.

Who thought it would be a good idea to give money to banks?!?

A. If banks can't raise money or hang onto what they've got, it's not them who needs the money; they clearly don't know what to do with it and should be out of business soon to safeguard anyone more who might be suckered into their schemes or facade of competence and prosperity.

B. Giving capital to a business only helps if they have a reasonable need for expansion that offers firm prospects of greater commercial success, which would then more than repay the original investment. Furthermore, said investor should be able to absorb the risk in case things don't pan out.

Whiny State Workers

A quick thought if you go through every story in the Cap Times or Wisconsin State Journal and read the comments you will find State Workers or their allies whining about how hard their jobs are and how underpaid they are.

They go on and on about how they work so hard they should not have to take furloughs or pay freezes.

Here is an idea if these state jobs are so terrible than quit go get one of them cushy private sector jobs.

Come on I double dog dare you state union thug workers to walk away from the terrible galley slave ship that you are forced to work in. This is still America and at least for a little while we are still free(well sort of) so quit your terrible state job fly be free.

Cover her head?

The debate is already going: Did our First Lady ditch the Turkey trip because she wasn't needed and wanted to be home for the start of her daughters' school week?

Or was it because she didn't want to face the chador, the hejab, the burka, or whatever they use in Turkey to gag and disappear their women?

There's a telling quote in the Times article:

A picture of her at the G20 summit in London, standing next to Emine Erdogan, the wife of the Prime Minister, Tayyip Erdogan, attracted mixed emotions, however, since Mrs Erdogan’s Muslim headscarf is viewed with distaste by secular Turkey’s establishment, which fears that she creates a negative, over-conservative view of the nation seeking membership of the EU.

"I bet she decided not to come because she didn’t want to be involved with our headscarved crowd," said Cigdem, 39, an accountant. “Who would? I'm glad we don't have to watch her posing side by side with them here."

Sounds like mainstream Turks don't want to see covered women, and muslims don't want to see infidels faking it in garb.

The real question is, Will she be the first First Lady to refuse to bow to Eastern "conventions"?

Today's word: 'heteropaternal superfecundation'

We're going to learn a new word today.

Say it with me now: heteropaternal superfecundation.

That's right, kiddies. It means "that's why Jimmy doesn't look like his twin brother Jay-Jay."

It also explains why Mr. Robinson is paying child support to Mr. White.

Help bail out Obama: Real democracy now!

An email from my new bff, David Plouffe, unnamed Obama lackey, info@barackobama.com:

Friend --

We knew healthcare reform would face fierce opposition -- and it's begun. As we speak, the same people behind the notorious "swiftboat" ads of 2004 are already pumping millions of dollars into deceptive television ads. Their plan is simple: torpedo healthcare reform before it sees the light of day by scaring the public and distorting the President's approach. We need the resources to take them head on with an urgent, grassroots campaign to pass real healthcare reform in 2009.

When the swiftboaters flood the airwaves with distortions, we'll flood the streets with volunteers armed with facts. When they send lobbyists to tell Congress to back down, we'll send millions of calls, letters, and stories from real Americans asking them to stand up.

Please donate $5 or more by midnight Sunday to fight back against these phony attacks and take our message of reform to the American people.

The swiftboaters are once again trying to sell the American people short. As during the election, we deserve a serious conversation -- not fear-mongering and deceit. You and I see the importance of healthcare reform every day. We can't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to face one of America's greatest challenges head on. Passing real healthcare reform will be the toughest, most important challenge we've faced together since electing Barack Obama President. But it's also a big reason we fought so hard to get here. I know that by working together, and speaking with one, determined voice, we can prevail over the cynics and defenders of the status quo. America's families are counting on us to do just that. Donate $5 or more to defend healthcare reform today:

https://donate.barackobama.com/defendhealthcare

Thank you,

David Plouffe

You know what? I like this form of democracy. I've already signed on to voting with your dollars, so why not repeal taxes and truly mandate from the masses?
It's how Obama got to be president: He out-earned McCain in the campaign and won.
That means we should probably get some "petitions" going. I'm thinking:
  • Overturn Roe v Wade - let the states decide
  • Stop Unions from stealing workers' earnings - make dues voluntary and anonymous
  • Term limits now: two terms only
What do you want to "petition" for?

Geeks, rejoice!

Your search engine is here: "Wolfram Alpha search to launch today." As of just over half an hour ago. Touts CNN journo-geek John D. Sutter:
Some see Alpha as a major advancement in the search world, primarily because it does something Google doesn’t: it creates new information, rather than just searching for what’s already available online.

Political Nanny 911

Where was that woman twenty years ago?

BEDFORD, Ohio — An Ohio man who argued with his grown son over a messy bedroom says he overreacted when he called 911.

Andrew Mizsak called authorities Thursday after his 28-year-old son threw a plate of food across the kitchen table and made a fist at him.

His son, also named Andrew, lives with his parents and has a room in the basement.

The father declined to press charges and told police he doesn't want to ruin his son's political career. The younger Mizsak works as a political consultant and is a school board member in Bedford, a Cleveland suburb.

The son says he and his father love each very much and that he's lucky to be living in the house rent free. He also promises to keep his room clean.

Like Your Professor, I struggle to pinpoint where to start... unfortunately, some of the funniest stuff is what they left out of the article.

A past draft blast

I'm a little bit anxious for football to get started. So. Apropos of nothing (except a Sports Illustrated article that appeared last week), let's talk about Tony Mandarich.

You remember him. The guy the Packers took in the NFL draft - right before the Lions took Barry Sanders?

That's him.

He's seen the error of his ways now and is talking about his steroid use, his drug use, and his generally rotten attitude.

ESPN has a good video on his story here. I highly recommend it, if only for the really awesome clips of him when he was THE dominant offensive lineman in history.

And here's the Sports Illustrated article. An excerpt:

His lowest point may have come when his brother was near death from cancer in the winter of 1993. Tony drove off on a 16-hour round-trip to pick up pills for himself that he'd persuaded a doctor to prescribe. When he got back, John was dead. "Painkillers were more important to me than holding my brother's hand as he died," Tony says.

The addictions ruined his first marriage and left him depressed. He was emotionally arrested, he tries to explain, and needed to grow up. Rehab and Alcoholics Anonymous finally got him straight. Fourteen years later he hopes his book will help others, even as it helps him wipe his own slate clean and show that there is hope even for "a bust, a loudmouth, a no-good liar at the very bottom, like me."

Mandarich's second wife, Charlavan, who dated him for two years at Michigan State, and with whom he shares four children (two from his first marriage, two from hers), says she has seen great change in Mandarich during their five-year marriage; he has become humble and calm and spiritual. They work extremely hard and close together at their web-design and Internet marketing business. Char almost mists up describing her husband—"a brilliant, gentle, white light, a beautiful light," she says.
I’m tempted to say: wonderful. Glad everything worked out, that he got over all that crap, that he’s become a good husband and father and is making something good come of his failures. A failure that big – seems like that could really eat a guy up, when he was as proud and successful as Mandarich was.

I’m also tempted to wonder whether he’d be so humble and sorry if he still had a multi-million dollar football career to shoot for. Now that that’s all over, now he’s sorry. That’s awfully easy.

I’ll go with the first one, of course, because I try to think the best of people, and because there's no going back to change what happened: he can only go forward from here.

Still. Imagine if we'd taken Barry Sanders. In 1989.

target practice

For some reason, that reminds me, Chris - when we goin' skeet shooting?

Is anybody gonna go to this?

An open-carry picnic in Onalaska this Sunday:

TOWN OF ONALASKA — Alcohol is prohibited during Sunday’s picnic at Marvin Gardens Park. Firearms are not.

A family-friendly picnic for those who favor open carry of firearms will be held from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, the first event of its kind in Wisconsin on public property, said organizer and gun rights enthusiast Hubert Hoffman.

The outdoor event celebrates Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen’s recent opinion to the state’s district attorneys that citizens should not be cited for disorderly conduct if openly carrying a firearm.
Everyone's invited, even if you don't pack heat. Free food, too. But no beer: guns and alcohol are a no-no.

While he can’t predict attendance, Hoffman said he’ll be happy if the event draws 30 people. He’s heard people plan to come from as far away as Milwaukee.

Hoffman has shelled out thousands of dollars to host the event. All proceeds raised from a donation bucket will be given to the Wisconsin Badger Camp.
He says reaction has been good, including from the police:

He has not received “one iota” of negative feedback about the picnic, which will include discussions about gun laws in school zones and private vehicles.

The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department is not planning increased patrols during the picnic, but any complaint will be investigated, said sheriff’s Capt. Mike Horstman.

“They’re doing what they’re legally entitled to do,” Horstman said.
Badger Blogger has more. Lot of talk about limp wrists in the comment section, which is bad shooting posture, if you ask me.

We're really busy this weekend, and even if we weren't, my yard is a mess, so I wouldn't be going anyway. But if anybody is, let us know. We'd love to post pics.
Ya know, here's something I've been wanting to ask about the whole Miss California faux news storm:

Who is Shanna Moakler, former Miss USA,, Playboy playmate and what's-his-name's baby momma, that she should be considered some kind of moral compass?

Thanks for the memories, J. Hope Texas is going well.

Speaking of the Onion...

They bring us an update on Favre Watch:

"Brett Favre Mails Arm To Vikings."

Somebody snuck an 'Onion' article in my news

"Obama Considers Detaining Terror Suspects Indefinitely."

Seriously, are they just pulling old Bush articles and changing names and dates, or what?

In true Onion fashion - "Manny Ramirez: Am I in Trouble?" - it just keeps gettin' better:

The Obama administration is weighing plans to detain some terror suspects on U.S. soil -- indefinitely and without trial -- as part of a plan to retool military commission trials that were conducted for prisoners held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The proposal being floated with members of Congress is another indication of President Barack Obama's struggles to establish his counter-terrorism policies, balancing security concerns against attempts to alter Bush-administration practices he has harshly criticized.

On Wednesday, the president reversed a recent administration decision to release photos showing purported abuse of prisoners at U.S. military facilities in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Obama cited concern that releasing the pictures could endanger U.S. troops. Mr. Obama ordered government lawyers to pull back an earlier court filing promising to release hundreds of photos by month's end as part a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union.

The decision to block the detainee photos contrasts with the administration's release last month of Bush-era Justice Department memorandums outlining the interrogation tactics used on prisoners by the Central Intelligence Agency. The release of the memos set off a heated political fight, with supporters of the Bush administration accusing the Obama White House of endangering the country and some of the current president's supporters calling for criminal probes of those responsible for the interrogation policies [emphasis mine, in case you're having trouble reading between the lines].

Wait - this is from the Wall Street Journal.
Obama's going to
  • Indefinitely detain terrorists without trial
  • Withhold photos of prisoner abuse in Iraq and Afghanistan
  • He ordered government lawyers to reverse a court filing
  • In so doing, favors his own adminstation's @ss while tossing the last one to the dogs by releasing old memos and calling for a criminal investigation of Bush-era officials.
How's your bloodpressure? Think O Admin flacks are thinking about what small island nation they'll retreat to should a Repub take the White House and not play by Repub decorum, but rather by Dem decorum (read: Jimminy Carter, Obama's "criminal probe")

I so can't wait to see The Daily Show tonight.

Wisconsin State Government votes to pee on Private Property Rights

"Assembly, Senate pass indoor smoking ban"

What the headline should say is "The lefts attack on private property rights continues to move forward".

It is sad that so many people in this country and state think they have a right to tell other people how to live and what to do with their private property.

Where are the health Nazi's calling for the State to stop the sale of Tobacco? Cue Charlies crickets.

This law is so Madison and Milwaukee Elitists can have it their way no matter where they go.

Prediction this law will be totally ignored in many areas of the state that are not full of Madison and Milwaukee Elitists.

Unjust laws should be ignored and this is a unjust law.

"Carrie will remain Miss California. Carrie is totally beautiful, and her answer because of that took on greater importance," prounounces The Donald, reminding Americans what's really important. "If her beauty wasn't so great, nobody would care."

Buy Black

I totally support voting with your dollars: "Chicago Family's 'Buy Black' Experiment Becoming a Nationwide Movement."

Good marketing people could get them connected to target shoppers together; advertizing sections could be purchased through a retailers association; and that next big fashion thing for home or wardrobe or technical accessories and food could have additional flare and vibrancy, coming from a non-Vogue stamped quarter.

The one thing this clearly needs:

Maggie and John Anderson of Chicago vowed four months ago that for one year, they would try to patronize only black-owned businesses. The "Empowerment Experiment" is the reason John had to suffer for hours with a stomach ache and Maggie no longer gets that brand-name lather when she washes her hair. A grocery trip is a 14-mile odyssey.

"We kind of enjoy the sacrifice because we get to make the point ... but I am going without stuff and I am frustrated on a daily basis," Maggie Anderson said. "It's like, my people have been here 400 years and we don't even have a Walgreens to show for it."

So far, the Andersons have spent hundreds of dollars with black businesses from grocery stores to dry cleaners. But the couple still hasn't found a mortgage lender, home security system vendor or toy store. Nonetheless, they're hoping to expand the endeavor beyond their Chicago home.

Seed money. Which Anderson is preparing to raise. And Gregory Price, Moorehouse College's chairman of the economics department, notes, "It would be nice to see some real, hard data. Otherwise, it could just be an episode of ethnic cheerleading."

Timeline shows Bush, McCain warning Dems of financial and housing crisis; meltdown

CNN: 'Soldier held in killings was clinic patient'

Says the Left: Aren't we all, after the Bush war, man. Aren't we all.

Garofalo meltdown II

"Since you won't admit there is a racist element*, I can say all Teabaggers are racist. Nya nya nya!"

*Garofalo refers to the Tea Parties, based on a single sign stating "What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?", which, wtf?!?

Janeane, same shit, different day. One stupid makes everybody stupid. Dems have used that ad hominem slam for as long as I can remember. In the greater context, since they were all human, that makes all humans stupid and racist, including you.

Janeane Garofalo is a racist!!!

PS Did anyone besides you see that "Willis" sign? Maybe you should just admit that it's all about getting relevent in the public eye again.

Obama and Carrie Prejean agree: no gay marriage

This is so funny I almost fell out of my seat: "Donald Trump: Miss California Carrie Prejean Keeps Her Crown." "Trump stands by Miss California USA."
"It's the same answer that the president of the United States gave," Trump said at a press conference. "She gave an honorable answer. She gave an answer from her heart."

Update

Don't you hate it when a blogger uses a quote but doesn't include the link, or when they include a misleading link? Yeah, me too.

It's not that hard, they're just that lazy or dishonest. Even when they don't have to be.

Garofalo meltdown I

First, the backstory: While you were sending Congress a clear message about tax abuse, even before your humble president referred to you with disdain as "waving teabags around," Janeane Garofalo was trying to squeeze out a few more bucks from her anthro course while riding your grass-root coattails:

Limbic brain? She knew that term would pay quality dividends someday.

Garofalo, the only one who sounds like they don't know anything about the history of the Tea Parties and has a paranoid hatred of a stereotypical archetype is you. At least you admit "I didnt [sic] grow up when I should have.”

PS Overusing words like "foment" doesn't give you the sound of the vocabulary of the intellectual upper crust. It sounds more like your Bush Derangement Syndrome is mutating.

PPS Garafoalo, Olbermann - one of you remember to turn the lights out when you bail on your pathetic little paranoia party, m'kay? Green Peace out and all that.

The only weapon we will be able to stock pile if the Human Rights groups get their way

Do human rights groups understand the actual purpose of fighting wars and using weapons?

First they try to get the use of Land Mines outlawed.

Than they whine and bitch about Cluster munitions

Now they complaining about using White Phosphorous as an actual weapon

I am sorry I think the idea of any weapon being more socially acceptable than another is just a joke.

I want enemies of the United States and our Allies to worry that they might be burned to a crisp by a WP round if they decided to fight our troops

You fight wars to win not to make friends and this constant movement by the surrender monkeys of the World Socialist/Peace groups to deny certain weapons to our forces will eventually lead to US troops dying when they do not need to.

If using a WP round can save one US soldiers life or for that matter one trooper from the UK or the IDF life I am all for its use as a weapon.

Do not make our forces fight with one hand tied behind their backs.

Dan Bice "When Governor Doyle gets bought he stays bought"

Dan Bice points out what most of already know.

That when a special interest buys Governor Doyle he stays bought.

Be it the Casinos WEAC or in this case Trial Lawyers the song remains the same you give Jim the big money he becomes your big bitch.

The Trial Lawyer money bought this provision in the budget that is going to make it so you can be charged for 100% of the damages even if you are only 1% at fault. Think of that hell just by waking up every morning you are 1% responsible for everything bad that happens in the world. Well that is how the Trial Lawyers see it.

We do not call him Diamond Jim Doyle for nothing

Chris

Oh yeah that smoking ban is going over really well in the North Woods.

I ended up in one the local watering holes Saturday night to have a few beers and watch some of the Brewers game on their TV's. Satellite TV is the greatest thing to every come to the "Up North" but I digress.

Being the social scientist that I am I actually took a moment to look around the bar I would say out of 40 people in the bar(it was the party for their pool league) There might have been one other person besides me who was not a smoker. And I even asked a couple of patrons and the owner what was going to happen when the smoking band went into effect.

There were a couple of common themes to the replies, the first was "F-ck Jim Doyle and the rest of those asshole in Madison.

The Second was general dislike of the type of people who are pushing this band. It was seen as the yuppies wimps in Madison and Milwaukee trying to push their life styles and beliefs on the people up there.

The third answer was let them try and stop us. Remember a lot of the taverns are already ignoring the law when it comes to gambling many have gambling machines. Do you really think they are going to just stop doing it their way because someone in Madison says they should do it this a certain way?

You know if the state GOP was smart they would start campaigning in the Northern Half of the state in a "Us vs those assholes in Madison " mode. Scott Walker needs to get up there and start telling the people up there that when he is Governor he is going to get Madison off their backs as best he can. No matter what the issue wolves or smoking bands or taxes if he runs on the side of the common man vs. the Madison Socialist Elites he can win up there.

He also needs to play up how much the local Milwaukee Politicians hate him that will also play in the Northern half of the state.

We need to get the message out to "Out state" voters that we as a party are going to get out of and stay out of their shat. We are going to defend private property rights. That we are going slow down the flood of tax dollars that go to Milwaukee to be wasted. We are going to pull in the reins on the DNR

There are a lot of votes in the Northern Half of the state just waiting to come over to our side if we just get our message out to these voters.

The smoking ban is going to be an issue that we need to beat the Socialists over the head with in the next election.

Every day I wake up looking forward to the 2010 elections more and more.

Chris

Hey I was away all weekend, did anyone get shot in Milwaukee this weekend?

Is that a stupid question or a rhetorical question or both?

Domestic dispute led to Monday morning homicide

Man, 22, dies after being shot in face

Not really this weekend it was last week.

Man charged in shooting of ex-girlfriend

I think there was also at least one Wounding in Milwaukee where a young man was shot in the ankle.

Now to be fair I will list all of the shootings in the Counties that surround Milwaukee.

Waukesha ----------------------------------------------------------

Ozauakee ----------------------------------------------------------

Washington --------------------------------------------------------

Sheboygan ---------------------------------------------------------

Jefferson ---------------------------------------------------------

Dodge -------------------------------------------------------------

Hell I am feeling generous I will list some of the shootings in some of the out state counties

Iron ---------------------------------------------------------------

Rusk ---------------------------------------------------------------

Green---------------------------------------------------------------

Iowa ----------------------------------------------------------------

I don't want anyone saying I am just picking on the fine people who live in Milwaukee.

In honor of Wisconsin's impending smoking ban:

Saturday, May 09, 2009

Are you an overlapper?

Headlines the left never thought they'd see

Somewhere, in the far reaches of Canada, some expat will get their San Francisco Chronicle long about Sunday and catch this bit of news:
President Obama's proposed defense budget includes $130 billion for the nation's two wars, a figure that may not be enough.

I imagine we'll be able to hear the screams from here.

Guantanamo Bay Terrorists: Coming to a Neighborhood Near You?

Pastor Josh

He's coming back! He's not coming back! He's...

Watching the Brett Favre saga post-Green Bay is like forgetting to turn off your alarm clock Friday night: when it goes off the next morning, you don't have to get up.

From the Journal Sentinel's Greg Bedard: Report: Favre tells Vikings he's not coming back

The Minnesota Vikings won't be signing Brett Favre after all, according to a report.

Yahoo! Sports, citing a source close to the team, is reporting Favre told Vikings coach Brad Childress on the phone sometime in the past 24 hours that Favre wanted to remain retired.
But wait! Report: Favre to sign with Vikings if major shoulder surgery not needed

Now we know why the Yahoo Sports report that Brett Favre told the Minnesota Vikings he was going to stay retired went unconfirmed.

And why neither the Vikings nor Favre was saying anything about the matter.

It's not over.

ESPN is reporting that Favre has sent his shoulder X-rays to the Vikings for them to evaluate. If there is no major damage and Favre does not need major surgery, Favre will un-retire to play for the Vikings, according to a "source close to the situation."

If major surgery is necessary, Favre will remain retired, according to the source.

What the hell is a 'liberal Republican' besides a Dem figment or a puppet?

Another article in search of a fisking: "An autopsy of liberal Republicans."

My title dispatches Silverleib's.

Next comes a political science lesson on conservatism in Pennsylvania that makes a pretty good case for a strong conservative tradition in the Keystone state. Directly followed by the claim that Spekter's defection is proof of "just how far the Republican Party has fallen in its ancestral homeland of the Northeast..."

Wouldn't that be the exception touted as the rule?

Next rhetorical claim: "What happened to Specter's breed of fiscally conservative, socially progressive, temperamentally moderate Northeastern officeholders?"

They're called RINOs. Not new, and party-switching to hang onto your seat isn't new either. It has yet to be proven if Spekter can match Lieberman's success with a new, political party affiliation.

The rest of the fisking is left to the reader as an exercise.

Friday Gun Porn: The Maschinengewehr 42

This week I give you one of the best Machine guns of World War 2 the German The Maschinengewehr 42 or MG 42 a gun that would go on to influence the American M-60 machine gun of the Vietnam and First Gulf War era.

Like the US .50 cal in the US Army you found the MG-42 being used in multiple roles in the Germany Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe it was used on Aircraft Vehicles and carried by the ground pounders. The Gun had super high rate of fire and was used through out the entire war by German forces. Like the AK-47 the MG-42 has a very distinct sound if you have ever heard one shoot you know instantly what it is.

As is mentioned in this video the MG-42 carried such a physiological punch that the War Dept made a training film to try and down play the "fear factor" of the gun.

A second video that also address the fear factor of the MG-42

I am really beginning to develope a very strong dislike of Mark Pocan

Neat little blurb from the Madison area Socialist I pulled out of the MJS. I think I will attempt my first ever fisking.

"Pocan, who leads the Joint Finance Committee with Sen. Mark Miller (D-Monona), called the crisis "the economic version of a natural disaster."
Wouldn't this be more of a man made disaster since it is caused by idiots like Pocan who cannot stop spending who never think of actually having the state live with in its means.

Pocan said lawmakers will look at other ways to fill the deeper budget hole.
Read this as higher taxes and fees because you know they will not want to actually cut spending.

"We'll figure out the best way we can protect working families as we move forward," Pocan said.
Could Mr Pocan define the term "working families" and why are they more important than other families. My wife normally works 60-70 hours a weeks so does our family make the cut as a working family Mr. Pocan? I doubt it since they tend to means test everything and I cannot remember the last time we actually did not get screwed by means testing. I know Mr Pocan is a politician and does not really know what work is but just because someone makes a lot of money does not mean they do not work. My guess is my family paid more in taxes this year than 3 of Mr Pocan's precious "working families" so when is state government going to do something to protect my family?

New tax and fee increases must be considered because leaving them out of the discussion would be "intellectually dishonest," Pocan added.
We are going to get blood from this tax turnip no matter what. How can you expect us to cut spending? Funny a Socialist using the term dishonest I bet he did it with a straight face. Jim Doyle is our Governor and Mark Pocan is worried about being "Intellectually dishonest" Hell if you look up Intellectually Dishonest in the dictionary you will find Jim Doyle's very ugly photo.

Once again I am going to ask the question how can a state with such high tax rates be in this much of a budget mess?

15 Months

The Green Bay Press Gazette puts up a story about a restaurant owner getting sent up the river:
Yu Tian Li, 45, was convicted in January of two counts of harboring illegal immigrants for private financial gain and commercial advantage.

U.S. District Judge William Griesbach on Wednesday ordered Li to serve two years on supervision after his release from prison and pay a $10,000 fine. Griesbach also ordered the seizure of Li’s home.

The jury found Li allowed two Chinese nationals to live in his home while they worked at the China King Buffet. In his sentencing decision, Griesbach noted that Li harbored the workers while he was on probation for an unrelated battery conviction in Brown County Circuit Court.

Li's wife, Yuechan "Susan" Gong was killed in 2004 by an employee of the restaurant who lived in the couple’s home.
No news on the immigrants thusly harbored, but since it seems one killed Li's wife he is probably in one of our fine Department of Correction facilities.

We need to hear more of this and we need to focus on those who hire and encourage the illegal immigration.

I recall hearing of this case from the get-go the part about the killing of Susan Gong, however, I did not expect this to take an immigration twist. In fact, I thought this story was about another restaurant in Green Bay that was reported to hire illegals, provide them with identities, and then put the workers into indenture to pay for the papers. The story I recall hearing was someone down south noticed funny numbers on their social security statement and an ID theft investigation was launched. However, I have heard nothing of that case since those reports.

A 6.5 Billion with a B Crater in the Wisconsin State Budget

Governor Doyle announced today that under his inept leadership the deficit for the CURRENT State Budget has grown like a Mushroom Cloud over a Japanese City. We now have a 6.5 Billion Dollar Crater in our Budget.

How Nice Maybe they will finally start to really cut spending and maybe the Socialist madmen who are running the state will rethink their massive tax increases for the next budget and might rethink some of the increased spending they are fixing to vote for.

The Wisconsin House of Cards is starting to look pretty wobbly.

As usual the BBA spared no expense and we have actually footage of Governor Jim "Spend it like a drunken sailor" Doyle as he rides the State Budget in for a crash landing.

We also have a nice footage of what remains of the state budget after Doyle's Brilliant leadership

Anyone want to take a guess at how much worse this is going to get before it gets better.

Oh and I predict that none of the State Unions will be willing to renegotiate their contracts to take the 2% pay cut. They will let 400 of their union members get laid off to protect the more senior union members.

How can you have taxes as high as we have and still run out of money it is mind boggling.

*Sorry. What is the ObamaPC word for 'terrorism', anyway?

Why even bother

"Obama challenges Congress to OK $17 billion in additional spending cuts in next budget"

That would be 1/2 of 1% of the total Federal Budget.

Because the Socialists are all about making it appear they care about your tax dollars.

When it gets to 20% of the Federal Budget I will be impressed.

This really is typical Obama propose a huge increase in spending than make a few token cuts and act like you have done something.

Some where President Taft's ghost is smiling by the time "The One" is done Taft will have moved to 3rd on the list of worst presidents behind Obama and Carter.

Catch this great answer by the Messiah when asked about the budget.
"Answering criticism that his cuts were but a drop in a multi-trillion-dollar spending bucket, Obama said: "Some of the cuts we're putting forward today are more painful than others. Some are larger than others. In fact a few of the programs we eliminate will produce less than a million dollars in savings. Outside of Washington, that's still a lot of money."AP

All that quote is missing is "twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom" and it could be a Kang and Kodos quote.

Kane in favor or taking away peoples rights

No surprise there is there.

"Take it from an ex-smoker: Smoking ban is a good thing" MJS race baiter.

What is it about Eugene that he is so in love with the Government taking away peoples rights. It doesn't matter which right, be it gun rights private property rights Eugene is in favor of you losing them.

This is not about Health it is about private property rights. Come on Eugene where is you column calling on Governor Doyle and the State Legislate to outlaw the sale of tobacco and give up their tobacco tax habit? That is what you would be calling for it this was really a "health" issue.

As usually Kane if full of it.

Other news from the attack on private property rights front:

Take a look at this blurb from the MJS
"Taverns, restaurants, hotels and other businesses would have more than a year to prepare for a ban. Existing cigar bars and tobacco shops would be exempt. Casinos run by the state's Indian tribes wouldn't be covered"

You have to give Jim Doyle credit once he is bought he stays bought. All those gambling dollars the Casinos have throw at him and used to bankroll The Greater Wisconsin Committee once again paid off for the Casinos. So all you Health Nazis explain to me why smoke inside a casino is less harmful than smoke in a tavern?

Jim Doyle and the Socialists taking away your freedoms one right at time.

A quick prediction this will be the most ignored law Wisconsin has on the books in Northern Wisconsin. Think about it the people up there have no problem shooting wolves do you think they are going to let a stupid law stop them from having a smoke along with their shot and beer?
