Badger Bites

I'm not sure what this virus that went around my office is, but it seems to have been more virulent than socialism at an Oscar party. I'm still 3/4's flattened by it, but I managed to make it around the Badgersphere tonight. Enjoy the links.

I thought about intro'ing the Bites tonight with a take on Ice, Ice, Baby, but neither you nor I really want that. So let's get to it.

Badger Bites

Okay. Some of you out there are dodging the flood waters. Others are still suffering the indignities of winter. Either way, the miserable winter of 2007-2008 holds on by the finger nails. Grab a warm beverage, a cozy blanket, and tuck into tonight's Badger Bites.

I can't talk about snow again this year and I'm fresh out of puns, so without further adieu, here's today's Bites.

Badger Bites

I hope everyone had a nice Easter and, for those of you in the southern part of the state, a good snowblower. Spring is just around the corner, but as long as you're still snowbound, you might as well see what's springing up on Wisconsin blogs. (Yes, it is a terrible pun)

*Wheaton Franciscan might as well have a company store with employee relations like this.

*Could Nader affect the presidential race?

*Nick ponders dangerously.

*I'm with James-this is refreshing.

*Peter looks at a good thing born from a bad.

*Sinbad is the new Honest Abe.

*This should be Wisconsin's new state verse.

*Ah, nothing like American pessimism.

*Heh, the wimpy WiSJ.

*Yeah, what about that blog summit?

*The return of the Cheese League?

Badger Bites

This is going to be an abbreviated version of the Bites. Since I boogie all over the Wisconsin blogosphere for this, anyway, I'd just as soon have a full version but it has been a slow few days around the state. Enjoy the links. We'll be back with a full version on Monday.

-Yuck, yuck, yuck.

-The Depprivation of Wisconsinites.

-Dad29 brings you the cutest baby animal pics you'll see today.

-Little Miss Sunshine draws an apt comparison between the vandalism of a Milwaukee Army recruiting office and...

-Of course, some just can't be bothered to care. At least they're honest about it.

Badger Bites Bytes

That would be news, wouldn't it? A badger biting a byte? Well, until it happens, we still have Badger Bites (or is it Bytes)? Either way, thanks to Lance and Marcus for picking up my slack last week, but now you're stuck with me again.

-Imagine Wigderson's best Joan Crawford impersonation: "No more political yard signs!"

-Shoebox asks whether Obama's Wright problem creates a McCain problem for the conservative right.

-Owen looks at a prime example of the First Amendment being rendered meaningless by campaign finance laws.

-The Nat & Singh, rapidly becoming safer thanks to citizens.

-OTBL nails Jim Cramer to the wall.

-Sean examines the left's newest BushHoover claims and finds them lacking.

-Personally, I think Dean hits the nail on the head.

-Handouts has to be the number one seed in that bracket.

-And so it was written in the book of Revelation that Al Sharpton would become the right winger upon the breaking of the seventh seal.

Badger Bites, Jibless Version

Hey, this Badger Bites thing is like work. You've gotta go through pretty close to the whole internet to find enough stuff you find interesting, and all for one post.

What? You're supposed to find stuff that other people will find interesting?

Oh. Well...maybe next time. Onward.

Calvin Frieburger “fisks” a “letter” to the “editor.”

And if punctuation mark preposterousness amuses you, click here.

Eulogizing the Democratic Party.

Hi, I’m Brett. And this is my brother, Favre.

Paul Noonan explains why Voltron was Favre’s downfall.

Cats and Dogs Living Together.

At least Fred has a healthy self-image.

Kathy is doing the delegate math.

And the Proletariat does some number crunching, too.

“On the other hand, you just never know what the hell is going on these days.”

Happy Birthday, Kato. We’re so proud!

You’re an alarmist.

And finally, one Sauk County family can say something nobody else can: La Valle family has four siblings in military academies.

Phew. I think it's Leinie Time. When's Jib get back?

Badger Bites Back

After a hibernation of a couple of weeks, Badger Bites is back. Things seem a little quiet around the Wisconsin blogosphere, mostly because half the state is sick with a cold or flu and the other half is tired of winter, but there still are plenty of posts out there that are worth checking out.

-Shoebox at NRE looks at possible data integrity problems in climate research.

-Fred has a problem with the new, environmentally friendly compact fluoarson light bulbs.

-Lance Armstrong, a man of many shirt colors (plus you have to wonder what they had in their water bottles back in the day).

-OTBL looks at what isn't essential.

-Peter takes a long look at last week's MPD report of voter fraud.

-The rise and fall of Oshkosh blogging.

-Paul Soglin has been eating spicy food before dinner and needs a dream reader.

-Mac VerStanding relates some background on ELF.

-Elliot asks an excellent question.

-Silent E brings us an interesting case in the Sheboygan school district.

Badger Bites

Southern Wisconsinites tonight are nursing their sore backs. Meanwhile, Northern Wisconsinites are enjoying a little schadenfreude as their snowblowers rest in their garages. Northern or Southern, the internet is never snowbound, so enjoy tonight's trip around the Badgersphere.

-Patrick points to a new tool coming down the road for taxpayers.

-"The Church" as seen from the eyes of a Protestant.

-Wigderson wanders out on a limb and finds a VeeP candidate.

-Super delegates, super headache.

-Nostalgic for the Capital Times.

-Fraley looks at the advertising trends behind the deaths of dailies.

-Never say never?

-A lefty government in Australia displays fiscal sanity.

-Fred starts a movement to keep the death tax dead.

And a note to BBA members: I'm probably going to need a 'Bites' substitute on both Monday and Thursday next week.

Badger Bites

Welcome to Super Tuesday Eve! All across the nation, children wait with baited breath for Sa....what, I have the wrong day? Ah, that's right, today is Christmas Eve for poligeeks, and if you're here, you're probably one of us. Although the white death is probably more important for many of us, we're on the cusp of the primaries' stretch run, and Wisconsin's talking politics. Enjoy.

-If you want to see behind the scenes of politics, there is no better place to start than the Olsen Papers.

-Speaking of ethanol mandates, is the current one dead or still lurking?

-Nick expounds on why he's drawn a line.

-Just in case you wanted to keep up on Ralph Nader, Babblemur has you covered.

-"A Conservative Case for McCain"

-Pheisty looks at smoking, choice, and a push from Minnesota.

-Dean has a Super Duper Tuesday chart for your reference.

-Marcus looks at how not to make friends.

-George Allen as the source of current Republican disarray?

-And tonight we close with a story that is funny to everyone but the parent-a poo covered toddler.

Badger Bites

Okay, we waited to release tonight's Badger Bites until well after the SOTU, which I'm sure everyone out there watched. So minus the distractions, you can now enjoy tonight's Bites.

-Sean Twitters the SOTU.

-Meanwhile, if you still haven't caught up on the State of the State, Dean has the links for you.

-It took an Obama endorsement to upset NOW?

-Operation Jericho...in Atlanta.

-Remembering Challenger.

-Did MillerCoors have their choice made for them?

-This is just too cool not to add, even though the cameraman will give you motion sickness.

-Yep, he's right: He is the furthest thing from an expert on the topic.

-Paul Soglin endorses...well, let's just say NOW probably wouldn't be happy.

-Kevin Fischer irritates conservatives?

-And here's a link to Kevin Fischer for the hell of it.

-The benefits of the giant tax bill.

-Pheisty resigns from the Republican Party.

-Fred, and McCain & Wisconsin. Plus a Fred write-in.
