Friday Grumps Gun Porn: The 12ga Stroger Coach Gun
A the classics never go out of style. What you see below is my mighty little, kick like a mule 12 ga coach gun. I bought this shotgun off a buddy back in the late 90's. I tried it at the range and hit 24 clays in a row with it I promptly turned to him and said I am taking this home how much do you want for it? He promptly named a fair price and I bought it on the spot.
It is a double barreled shotgun with the barrels set side by side it is also rare because it actually has two triggers one for each barrel, newer double barrels usually only come with one trigger. Take a look at the pictures and you will see what I mean.
It is a breech loader as you can see, it breaks open to be loaded and unloaded
it only holds two shots at a time so you have no margin for error.
A close up of the two triggers that feature of this gun usually blows people away. I was shooting sporting clays once with guys who had $5000 shot guns but were not very good(It was a pick up foursome at the range a buddy and I paired with these two doctors) I was on a roll when I missed a bird because I got my chubby little fingers tangled up trying to switch triggers. I turned to my buddy and laughed and said "couldn't find the second f-cking trigger" He laughed and then we both noticed both guys staring at my shotgun I do not think they had ever seen a two trigger gun like this before.
it is a great gun a little heavy and it does kick like a mule since it is not ported or vented, it actually leaves a nasty bruise on my shoulder after a full round of sporting clays. But since it is so short it is easy to work through the thick brush you must bust through while grouse hunting.
I would also rate it pretty low on the Zombie Repellent list yes the 12 ga shot will remove a Zombie head no worries, but the fact it only holds 2 shots could be problematic at best.
But like the hot woman with the ugly husband, some times love is not based on looks but on how reliable something is and this gun has never let me down, it is simple and easy to use I bet even Grumps could handle this little baby. ;)
I have 6 12 ga shot guns and only my Beretta gets out of the vault more than this baby.
So there you go the Stroger Double Barreled 12 Gauge Shot Gun this weeks Centerfold.
