The Potawatomi Show Doyle the Money!
Though Doyle has been caught in the press making sketchy, virtually un-Democratic comments about gambling, at least regarding the Beloit off-res facility that's in planning, he's sealed the deal to the tune of $750 mil over the next 25 years with the Potawatomis over in Milwaukee.
If my calculator's not a lying piece of crap, that's $30 mil a year in sucker taxes.
But, according to the Beloit Daily News, Assembly Speaker John Gard, who brought the new deal about by suing over the old deal for having no expiration date and expanding gaming to roulette, craps and poker, still isn't happy:
Gard should ask himself if it's reasonable to extort a quarter of the Potawatomi's hard-chiseled mob squeeze just because it's been on the table to other states. I have a hunch that he wouldn't hear any questions through the sound of clinking gold and whirling slots.
Expect round two if Gard has any say, which seems all too likely.

While the new deal establishes an expiration date, it does not address what games the tribe can offer.
Assembly Speaker John Gard, who filed the lawsuit that led to the Supreme Court tossing out the old deal, said he still was not satisfied. He complained the tribe was not paying enough considering its monopoly on casino gambling in the state's most populated area and noted that tribes have offered other states as much as 25 percent of their net revenue.
The maximum the Potawatomi will pay is 8 percent."
I'm ultimately disappointed that once again there is a bad deal for the taxpayers of the state of Wisconsin," said Gard, R-Peshtigo.
