It's Science (And Photoshop)

Fred has a story about global warming, on Jupiter.

Just you remember, children, we've talked about this before. And, yes it is all our fault.

Weather Prediction

After this obnoxious Winter I fully expect Summer to come around and try to make up for it. I also expect some idiot, most likely one with an Oscar and a Nobel Peace Prize, to blame the first scorching day on global warming.

We Need a Global Consensus!

"We need a global consensus! We have to go through the United Nations!"

Sounds familiar? Well, this time the issue is biofuels. The UN has warned:

“The economic, environmental and social impacts of bioenergy development must be assessed carefully before deciding if and how rapidly to develop the industry and what technologies, policies and investment strategies to pursue,” the report warned.

What's a liberal to do?

Will they join the rest of us in proclaiming the UN useless, or will they abandon the reckless pursuit of instant energy alternatives? More than likely, they'll want to have their cake and eat it, too. If only I could get inside the head of a liberal to see how they can reconcile their love of the UN and their hatred of gasoline.

Re: The Village Watchman, Who Just Puts Down What He Damn Pleases.

Lance,

I would not say what is going on with those weather stations is corrupt as is the implication of the quote you use. I would say it is a lack of quality control caused by the the large number and vast dispersion of the data collectors.

Sampling is practically a science onto itself. The article notes NOAA understands the situation and adjusts numbers to attempt to factor in these uncertainties.

This invites (not beg) another question. Is the earth sufficiently sampled to be able to say with certainty the earth as a whole is warming up? Furthermore, such modeling as climatologists and global warming evangelists (GWE) cite are sensitive to things such as initial conditions. Get the initial conditions wrong and your model is only accurate for the incorrect initial conditions. In fact, I recall hearing how one model of our solar system give wildly different states depending on the rounding precision used in the model.

Martian Melting Explained

Some of you have recently discovered that there is evidence of the polar ice caps on Mars melting. You've predicted that this spells doom for the human-caused global warming theory.

Unfortunately, it just isn't so. Using high tech imaging from the Hubble telescope, I've pieced together a theory that explains how WE are causing the polar ice on Mars to disappear. That's right, it's OUR FAULT. Observe:

The above image is a recreation of how the suns rays reached Mars before the industrial revolution, when mankind started spewing greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Actual cave drawings found in remote sites in England make a vague reference to the correctness of this model, if you lick a toxic toad before observing them.

Now, here is what the solar model looks like today:

Can you see that? Man made greenhouse gasses have a higher index of refraction than greenhouse gasses from nature (because they are evil). The artificial greenhouse gas content in the atmosphere is turning the Earth into a giant magnifying glass. The sun's rays are striking Mars like a laser beam, soon it will be the hottest planet in the solar system. We will have destroyed it without ever even setting foot on the surface.
