Just a reminder for Uppity Wisconsin [and his ilk]...
Uppity Wisconsin is true to it's name. Uppity, that is...
Seems to me that Uppity, along with most democrats, has forgotten his basic constitutional civics. Hence, I refer you all to the US Constitution, especially Article I, Section 8 which outlines 'The Powers of Congress' and Article II, Sections 1-4 "The President". Congress makes the laws and writes the checks [hence the name legislative branch] -- the President can only execute [hence the name executive branch] the laws that they pass and have funded. It's amazing when you read it again how little the President can do without Congress -- all the more reason why we should not have handed it over to the democrats, Republicans!
While 'Blame Bush' is a popular mantra for you folks, the 'reality show' that has yet to air is 'Blame Barney Frank', 'Blame Chris Dodd' but it's not quite as catchy or revealing of ignorance as to how government works as 'Blame Bush'. Let the politics of personal destruction begin...
"President Obama called for action today in a Washington Post op-ed piece implicitly reminding obstructionist Republicans that their policy views are what got us here in the first place and are precisely what was rejected by voters the last election. What's really happening is that the more the intellectually vapid voters of the independent middle who put President Obama in office see of what they bought, the more his popularity and the popularity of "Pelosi's Pork and Payback" Bill become...In recent days, there have been misguided criticisms of this plan that echo the failed theories that helped lead us into this crisis -- the notion that tax cuts alone will solve all our problems; that we can meet our enormous tests with half-steps and piecemeal measures; that we can ignore fundamental challenges such as energy independence and the high cost of health care and still expect our economy and our country to thrive.Obama significantly did not single out Republicans but rather castigated "Washington," though this looks like the first major strike in a PR war for/against the stimulus bill that Obama has well positioned the doctrinaire Republicans to lose.
I reject these theories, and so did the American people when they went to the polls in November and voted resoundingly for change. They know that we have tried it those ways for too long.
In other words being Republican is very bad politics, the GOP is about to find out in case that fact got by them last November." Source: Obama: Now; GOP: No | Uppity Wisconsin
"The bad news from Rasmussen? More people support the Obama stimulus package than oppose it. The good news? The gap between them is less than the margin of error, down from 11 points last week. In a new Rasmussen poll, the Porkfest Formerly Known As Stimulus only gets 42% support, while 39% oppose it:"" Source: Popularity of stimulus package dropping | OpinionatedJerk.comPopularity will continue to drop if the full bill is ever posted online...
