Bloggers are Bullies
We here at OnTheBorderLine pride ourselves on the push for education reform. Some of the regulars (not all) here involved themselves in the New Richmond School Board Election by attending 2-3 board meetings dating back to last summer. My logic has been that because of the states funding formula along with the demographics and economy here in St. Croix county, I am contributing my tax dollars to their district as well as my own. We are all subsidizing the districts whose economies are not as fortunate as others. Additionally, some new members from New Richmond joined and saw that OnTheBorderLine blog was a new medium to get out their messages about the facts surrounding the situation in New Richmond. Dysfunctional is a nice way to put it, on the shenanigans that have occurred over the last 1.5 years in their district. The posts are plenty regarding that fact.
In the closing minutes of the School Board campaign there was even a misinformation campaign that ensued with a 2 page letter sent out to around 1000 New Richmond citizens. What made this interesting was the question as to it legality and what is now termed the 'O'Brien letter' was sent by O'Brien himself, an attorney.
The Post: O’Brien Defends Failed Actions of School Board
and the original letter:
It's topic, the bad ole blog boys of OnTheBorderLine! Page 2 is filled with a few quotes that were on the blog but taken out of context and at the bottom are phrases and quips that have never been or never discussed let alone published here OnTheBorderLine.
Their candidates lost the election and now OnTheBorderLine is being pointed at as to the reason why. The people doing the pointing include a glaring 'View Point' by an unnamed author in the New Richmond paper. This is the view of the paper, not a letter written by a citizen. Article Here or here. It even said we were bullies on a mission to dismantle the public school system in the United States.
So here have been our responses up to this point:
They call it intimidation when it’s really accountability.
Freedom of the Press
and
Yellow Journalism in New Richmond
This newspaper needs to get with the times. It was said that as a group, we are faster, smarter and by and large more articulate than the dinosaur MSM - and they know it, consequently we’re a threat and now a target. This is a fact that these small town newspapers are going to have to come to a grip with. They need to stop whining.
