Why We need term limits on the US Senate
After Watching the some of the idiots we call US Senators at their press conference yesterday claiming they had solved the illegal immigration problem. It struck me that a lot of these people have been in that one job way to long. Once again we have term limits for the President why not the Senate? Hell 2 terms would be 12 years that is long enough for any one person.
Let me give you some examples of how long some of these Senators have been in the Senate.
Harry Reid(D) elected in 1986 20 years
Patrick Leahy(D) elected in 1974 32 years
John McCain(R) elected in 1986 20 years
Arlen Specter(R) elected in 1980 26 years
Christopher Dodd(D) elected in 1980 26 years
John Kerry(D) elected in 1984 22 years
Teddy Kennedy(D) elected in 1962 44 years
Robert Byrd(D) elected in 1958 48 years
Trent Lott(R) elected in 1988 18 years
Richard Lugar(R) elected in 1976 30 years
Herb Kohl(D) elected in 1988 18 years
Joseph Liberman(D) elected in 1988 18 years
Orrin Hatch(R) elected in 1976 30 years
Joseph Biden(D) elected in 1972 34 years
Tom Harkin(D) elected in 1984 22 years
John Rockefeller(D)elected in 1984 22 years
Mitchell McConnell(R) elected in 1984 22 years
Max Baucus(D) elected in 1978 28 years
Carl Levin(D) elected in 1978 28 years
William Thad(R) elected in 1978 28 years
Pete Domenici(R) elected in 1972 34 years
Theodore Stevens(R) elected in 1968 38 years
John Warner(R) elected in 1978 28 years
Daniel Akaka(D) elected in 1990 16 years
Kent Conrad(D) elected in 1986 20 years
Dianne Feinstein(D) elected in 1992 14 years
Paul Sarbanes(D) elected in 1976 30 years
Conrad Burns(R) elected in 1988 18 years
Kay Hutchison(R) elected in 1992 14 years
Jim Jeffords(T) elected in 1988 18 years
Barbara Boxer(D) elected in 1992 14 years
Byron Dorgan(D) elected in 1992 14 years
Daniel Inouye(D) elected in 1962 44 years
Barbara Mikulski(D) elected in 1986 20 years
Patty Murphy(D) elected in 1992 14 years
Robert Bennett(R) elected in 1992 14 years
Christopher Bond(R) elected in 1986 20 years
Charles Grassley(R) elected in 1980 26 years
Judd Gregg(R) elected in 1992 14 years
Richard Shelby(R) elected in 1986 20 years
Russell Feingold(T) elected in 1992 14 years
That is everyone in the United States Senate with over 12 years lets total them up
41 out of 100 would be replace if we went to a 12 year term limit. Think what that would do to shake up that Joke of an institution. My rock there are 3 who have been there over 40 years that is just wrong Teddy Kennedy has never done a damn thing except be a Senator. I want anyone to try and tell me someone who has lived in Washington DC for as long as these 41 people can still be in touch with the common men and women they are supposed to represent.
These numbers give me one of the reasons why the US Government is so messed up.

Chris
