Our Prayers Go Out to Our Good Buddy Lance
Makes you wonder if they allow actually 'booth' booths? Or are all attempts at making profit squashed?Wisconsin political activists will celebrate the 150th birthday of progressive Wisconsin Gov. Robert "Fighting Bob" LaFollette, share ideas and have some fun when Fighting Bob Fest returns to the Sauk County Fairgrounds Saturday.
Speakers during the fourth annual festival will consider the 40th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, said Ed Garvey, Madison-based attorney and editor of the http://FightingBob.com political news Web site. A variety of leaders and elected officials will speak on the issue of "the vote at risk."
Tuesday afternoon a group of Bob Fest supporters wielded saws, hammers and screwdrivers to convert a stack of lumber into a stage for speakers. When complete, it will be decorated with a large Fighting Bob Fest emblem and United States flags.
Rural Wisconsin Dells resident Hiroshi Kanno said more than 4,000 people attended last year's festival. He expects it will draw an even larger crowd from around the Midwest and beyond this year.People who come to the event will find stimulating speakers, discussion with fellow concerned citizens, along with some fun and entertainment, Kanno said.
"(There is) a terrific line-up of speakers this year, as in past years," he said. "There will be some workshops and a chance for people to speak with each other as well."In addition to speakers and workshops, about 60 groups will have booths presenting their issues and ideas, Kanno said.
Keynote speaker will be Michigan Congressman John Conyers. Terrific is not a word I'd use to describe him. I see from the schedule included that Vermont's Bernie Sanders is coming. He should fell right at home with Ed Garvey and crew.
