Life's Little Ironies

Found this at DayWatch by Stacy Forster (talked with her at State GOP Convention - she's really short.) on a bill that just passed the State Senate 33-0 (unanimous vote). The bill, SB-78, is an effort to stem the cold medicine buying habits of Wisconsinites because too many of us are making meth with them.

Among the provisions in the bill are the following:
The bill to restrict sales of products that include psuedoephedrine would:

-Require products with pseudoephedrine to be sold behind a pharmacists' counter, except those products in liquid or liquid gel cap form.
-Restrict the amount sold to one person in a 30-day period.
-Require buyers to show a photo ID to purchase the drugs.
-Mandate that pharmacists maintain a log book of sales.
-Prevent retailers from selling products with psuedoephedrine to those under age 18.

The bill also would stiffen rules about what constitutes possession with intent to manufacture methamphetamine.
Yes, if passed into law (Doyle is said to support this bill.), we will now have to show a photo ID to purchase cold medicine.

But what of the 100,000 elderly who are to be disenfranchised by this bill, Governor? Think of the injustice to cold sufferers everywhere.

Also, I'm buying cold medicine, not an Uzi. (WTF?)
