MJS Endorses Scott Walker

Well, not really. But, they tried to. With statements like this it's hard to tell who they really want us to vote for:

Absent these critical considerations, we cannot recommend her over Walker. Given our differences with Walker, we wish we could.

That's not exactly glowing praise for either candidate. If I were in Walker's shoes I'd make a point of rejecting the endorsement. It would show more spine than the individual who wrote this has. You can tell that the MJS didn't have enough courage to write what they're really thinking: vote Taylor, we know she's a dud but at least she's not a republican.

I've tried to imagine what the rough draft of this endorsement must have looked like:

Let’s get one thing straight: we can’t stand Scott Walker. For crying out loud, the man killed The Blue Shirt, a symbol of – something really important, probably. He’s also managed to keep the county from tanking while holding the line on taxes and that just can’t be tolerated.

Walker single-handedly killed the county parks, too. He literally killed them! It must be seen to be believed. Sometime in October all the leaves fell off the trees and there's no sign of recovery. We blame Scott Walker.

We’d really love to endorse his opponent, Lena Taylor. We really would. It’s just that she’s such an embarrassment we can’t risk our credibility on her, not even after we endorsed Jim Doyle for governor! The woman hasn’t got a clue how to run Milwaukee county and she openly admitted it. It's all over the Cheddarsphere now. If we endorsed her now they'd have us committed.

So, we're forced to endorse the greater of two evils. Scott Walker may be the anti-christ, but he looks damned good in a suit. Meanwhile, we'll continue wishing for the democrats to run a viable candidate. We can't stand to go through this every four years! Scott, please run for governor, of Alaska. Couldn't you at least stop acting so professional? Give us a sex scandal, or something, anything, that we can use to tarnish your reputation. Why do you have to be so damn popular, Scott? You're killing us!

In case you missed it...

Check out the response from Scott Walker in regards to the recently announced County Executive Polling.

It is an interesting read based on who was doing the polling and what type of questions were being asked.

Did Taylor Already Change Campaign Managers?

I don't know his politics, but Michael Horne of Milwaukee World has a good track record with his scoops.

This October, I thought he had an interesting one.
Well, at last! Lena Taylor is running for Milwaukee County Executive, her advisor Les Johns said this afternoon in an e-mail message to milwaukeeworld. Johns says the senator called him this afternoon to announce she had filed papers with the Milwaukee County Election Commission.

A worker at the commission confirmed that Taylor had filed her EB-1 form today. The document certifies her intent to run and allows her to start raising money. Finally, Taylor has hired Eric Hogensen to be her campaign manager. She joins Joe Klein as an announced candidate for the seat held by Scott Walker.

According to a Taylor Campaign Press Release today, she's already switched drivers.
Taylor for Milwaukee County Executive announced on Tuesday that John Zapfel has joined the campaign as the organization’s campaign manager.

“John brings a wealth of experience to my campaign, and I’m very pleased to have him on board as I seek to restore integrity and accountability to the Milwaukee County Executive’s office,” State Sen. Lena Taylor said.

Zapfel was born and raised in the City of Milwaukee, where he attended Milwaukee Vincent High School and later the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has worked for a number of campaigns in the Milwaukee area, including Barrett for Milwaukee, the Democratic Coordinated Campaign, and Doyle for Governor.

Hogenson is best known for running Kagen's campaign last year. (Just don't ask Eric about not getting the Congressional Chief of Staff job...I hear he's a bit touchy when it comes to that subject.)

So here's the question: Did Hogensen quit to got back full-time to Kagen -- who he's been consulting with according to the past few FEC quarterly reports -- or did Lena Taylor sack him for a guy with a better track record in Milwaukee County?

Milwaukee County Exec. Scott Walker gets a challenger

Democrats have been trying to convince someone to run against County Executive Scott Walker, and it looks like they finally have one. Joe Klein has filed for and declared his candidacy today.

By checking his Bio page, we can see that he is yet another East Side tree hugging liberal (oh, they prefer to be called "progressive" now) that wants to make Milwaukee taxpayers pay for a light rail choo-choo that no one will ride... except maybe himself, since he claims to have taken the city bus downtown to register as a candidate. (Psst... Joe, spell check).
