Swine Flu Madness
The Oconomowoc Schools just sent out this email
"We have been informed by the Waukesha Health Department that an Oconomowoc High School student has a probable, presumptive case of Swine Flu. OHS will be closed immediately (5/1/2009). Because of co-mingling of high school and intermediate school students, Silver Lake and Nature Hill Schools will also be closing as a precaution. These three schools will remain closed for seven (7) days.
Students should minimize their contact with others during this closure. Families should report any flu like signs to their family physician. Preventive measures will continue to insure the health and safety of all. Thank you for your cooperation.
NO OTHER SCHOOLS ARE IMPACTED AT THIS TIME??ALL OTHER OASD SCHOOLS REMAIN IN SESSION AND WILL BE FOLLOWING NORMAL SCHEDULES.
Additional information is available on the district web site."
This is insanity they are closing half of the district schools for 7 days over one person having a flu that is being called by the WHO mild and no worse off for you than any regular flu that might be contacted by people in their day to day lifes.
How much is this going to cost the district in cost overruns now that they will have to make half the district go a week longer and mark my words they will have the whole district closed by Monday how many families have kids in both the elementary and other two levels.
We are dealing with a mild flu here not Bubonic Plague for crying out loud.
Is this the same American that beat the Nazis or put men on the Moon? What a nation of simpering wimps we have become
Already planning on having my kids home all next week
Chris
Update: I talked to a teacher and he said they do not have to go longer because they are following state rules so the closing does not effect the length of the school year.
