Teachers Face Layoffs
The Appleton School District is looking at a reduction in workforce that could affect up to 44 teachers.
This is tricky, because as we know many of those teacher's depend on the paycheck and there are those in Appleton and elsewhere in our nation who depend on them getting those paychecks and paying bills or spending money. Still, you know times are tough when even public school employees are getting laid off.
Gregg Underheim, when he ran for the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, noted the taxpayers will not support ever increasing expenditures of education budgets. The teacher's union is probably going to be seeing more of this in the next year or two.
