Re: This Too is Very Illegal
Was I the only person who was bummed Las Vegas-style sports betting wasn't included in the most recent gambling compacts? If the Indian casinos are going to have poker, blackjack, craps, and horse betting why not sports betting? I can't stand slot machines and my money floats away too fast on table games but putting $20 down on the Packers would be nice.
If the Oniedas wanted in on this they'd either have to not allow bets on NFL games or stop sponsoring the Packers. I'm sure the league wouldn't be too thrilled if they didn't.
UPDATE: James Wigderson writes, "The other problem for a casino here is the types of wagers and the lack of variance. They're going to be bound by the Vegas lines but the locals will bet unevenly on the home teams, potentially hurting the casinos."
For this I blame federal laws barring interstate gambling (except for lotteries). If there's going to be casinos practically everywhere then they should be able to form networks to spread risk.
