Cap Times: fix health care to fix economy
The Capital Times says we have to fix health care if we're going to fix the economy:
Single-payer health care means less money for research; less money for doctors and other health care professionals; less money for equipment. All of which results in less available care. And all that at a very high cost! What's not to love?
Maybe nothing (or, more likely, maybe everything). But here's a question: If health care in this country is “broken,” then how do you describe health care in other parts of the world?
There is an unhealthy tendency on the part of politicians and journalists to see discussions about economic recovery and health care reform as separate debates.Right, because we never, ever had a strong healthy economy before we enacted single-payer health care.
In fact, one of the most important steps on the road to economic recovery -- or, more precisely, toward a new, responsible and sustainable prosperity -- involves the fundamental reform of this country's broken health care system.
