How can the governor be mad at GM?

Over at FoxPolitics today, I asked how politicians like Jim Doyle and Russ Feingold can get away with blaming GM for the Janesville plant closure, when their own policies and positions are partly to blame.

In today's Eau Claire Leader Telegram, editor Don Heubscher has a similar question:

In fact, the federal government put in a tax loophole allowing anyone using a vehicle for business to deduct up to $75,000 if they bought a sport utility vehicle weighing more than 6,000 pounds, such as the Hummer H2 or Lincoln Navigator.

So how can Doyle be overly critical of GM for producing "gas-guzzling" vehicles that the federal government gave people tax breaks to buy?
