PARDEEVILLE — Every high school graduating class is poised to take the world by storm.DOUBLE WHAMMY: Tornado, torrential downpours batter area
Pardeeville High School's Class of 2008 really did.
Twice, the 71 graduates and their families and friends were ordered to take shelter in the school's hallways Saturday afternoon when the National Weather Service issued tornado warnings.
When the storm blew down power lines and darkened the school, the Pardeeville Fire Department brought in two generator-powered floodlights to illuminate the gym.
Principal Paul Peterson announced the graduates' names, as they crossed the stage, through a battery-operated bullhorn, which he later held for graduate Julia Schneider as she gave her valedictorian's address.
