Breaking News: TV Network Uses News Division as Front for Showing Racy Photos

You may remember this story from a couple of months ago: Carmen Kontur-Gronquist, mayor of Arlington, Oregon (and a fitness buff), had posted at least one racy picture of herself on her Myspace page.

There was a bit of an uproar, and the town voted narrowly to remove her from office...over a week ago.

So, naturally, NBC's Today Show ran a lengthy piece on it...today.

And showed two pictures of Carmen Kontur-Gronquist in either lingerie or a swimsuit.

Over, and over, and over again.

Here's the thing: the story's over. It's old. It's all done with, and considering all the other important and/or interesting things happening in the world, there's only one reason for NBC to air that piece.

Attracting viewers with racy pictures.

I, for one, think that's disgraceful. To re-hash an old story simply because it gives you an excuse to run sexy pictures. Sure, people are going to search the name Carmen Kontur-Gronquist, and sure, they're going to run across her pictures, but we at Badger Blog Alliance do not condone attracting readership through repeating her name - Carmen Kontur-Gronquist, (former) Mayor of Arlington, Oregon - and linking over and over again to her pictures.

We just don't do stuff like that.
