See Dick Blog. Blog, Dick, Blog!
I've been asked to give a presentation on blogs during the tech college's next in-service day. So much for anonymous blogging.
I don't have the parameters yet, but you can imagine it will be very basic and geared for teachers.
Knowing that the person who requested the presentation doesn't know anything about blogs, I put together a suggested list for an hour-and-a-half presentation.
1. Explanation of blogs, their purpose and background
2. How to find good blogs in your area of interest
3. How to get started, and how to build a resource for students and fellow department faculty
4. How to participate, network, and build activities and readership
5. How to encourage your students to find and evaluate blogs as resources and outlets
Items 3, 4 and 5 include a number of suggestions like attending blogger conferences, but I'd appreciate any suggestions you would add.
You can post them or e-mail them.
Thanks!
