Jimmy Cracked Corn ….Vote Green!
No, I have not gone off the deep end and joined the suspicious, blame the Homo sapiens for all the global warming, gang of recycling, bark eating, french hygenic, non-aerosol, grass(as in hooch) roots political movement..... I mean, we have problems with our current governor's affinity to the educrat crowd. It dawned on me right around dawn today (after reading a note from Rich Graber) that our current governor should be nic-named Governor Jimmy Cracked Corn (or JCC for short).
Yes, we do have a problem here in Wisconsin. It's called corruption of our K-12 system and the only way to fix it is to dismantle the monopoly. Then, streamline our University System by replacing this gang of looters costumed as the "board of regents" with some sanity.
The folk song, "Jimmy Cracked Corn" was written about 20 years before the civil war. One meaning of the song implies the master is gone away, and we can drink corn mash all day and not have a care... Well, this fits Doyle to a "T." The taxpayers and parents of this state have been gone away far too long and the government has been drinking corn mash and not giving a damn. In this case the intoxicant is your tax dollars. Jimmy has been crackin the corn, but it's time we returned to the farm and dried up the liquor.
Graber states: "The same day that Governor Doyle blamed President Bush for the high cost of tuition, his politically stacked Board of Regents voted to raise the salary of an embattled UW chancellor by 22% and lower tuition for out-of-state students. Since Governor Doyle took office, tuition has gone up 51% for college students. Graber says Jim Doyle is making it harder for Wisconsin students to live the American Dream. ....
"Maybe all of Governor Doyle's out of state donors want to send their kids to the University of Wisconsin," Graber said, "Jim Doyle is putting the state further and further into debt and putting a college degree further and further out of reach for working families in Wisconsin.."
.."The University of Wisconsin is called that for a reason. It's to provide educational opportunities for people here in Wisconsin," Graber said, "Jim Doyle's Board of Regents is more worried about pay raises for chancellors and lower tuition for out-of-state students than they are about making sure Wisconsin students succeed."
Isn't this all rich; we have a bloated K-12 system with no competition whereby kids get roughly $10,000 + per year spent on their behalf (adjusted for the cost of living, we are either at the top, or very close to the top nationwide), yet our college readiness ranking is barely middle of the road. What we have is a social jobs program with a curricular focus on early childhood day care and teen-age entertainment mascarading as an education system. I truly feel bad for the rally talented teachers immersed in such a bizarre system..
Then we craft a higher education system at the University level that prices average Wisconsin families right out of the market! Why worry anyway, Johnny and Sally aren't prepared for college with a high school diploma from a Wisconsin K-12 system anyway.... even in Hudson with its "high quality programming" kids can graduate and not be qualified to enter the UW system.
Graber is right on with this message and there is one candidate who understands, in my view, better than any other this issue. His name is Mark Green, he's running for Governor and he deserves the vote and support of average hard working families all across this state. Give him a good look, I think you'll agree that Mark has the best interests of all Wisconsinites and not just the socialistic educrat establishment.
Wisconsin can once again be a great place to live, but not with a corn mash chugger like Jimmy Cracked Corn at the helm...
