United Council finally discovered the truth: The UW-System will sell them down the river at a whim.
“Rather than defend students and their families by creating more top-level administrative efficiencies, eliminating outrageous perks such as $700 monthly car allowances, and fighting for additional state support; UW leadership chose the easy road by selling students up the river under the guise that tuition increases protect educational quality. We must end the rhetoric that affordability and quality are competing issues. Both are critical components in preserving a public university system. State support is the only concrete way to protect both access and quality.Pardon me, I have to go find a place to laugh uncontrollably.
“We can only wonder the outcome if UW officials pressed state officials for more state dollars as they press for greater tuition flexibility. Students and their families continue to shell out thousands of dollars more for fewer services while dwindling state support erodes educational quality. Any tuition increase must be matched with state dollars to end this cycle of students paying more for less. United Council will continue to be the lone voice for students and their families in the fight to afford and earn a quality college degree in Wisconsin.“
