WEAIC's Monopoly over your wallet

A large part of the costs of the education in Wisconsin today exist in the form of health insurance. In January this year Scott Niederjohn, who is a resident fellow of the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute, came out with a report called “THE $100 MILLION QUESTION - BREAKING THE HEALTH INSURANCE MONOPOLY”. In it he points out the WEAIC writes health insurance coverage on teachers in approximately 78% of districts in the state. In most districts, the carrier has been chosen through a no-bid process.

Bil Danielson of Hudson writes a 2 part series on the issue and thoroughly analyzes it over at the “On The BorderLine” Blog. He cites specific examples here in the Hudson School District, but points out WEAIC’s strategy of monopolizing the health care provider system across Wisconsin. It is a bit lengthy but well worth the read. It highlights most of the findings in Niederjohn’s report. He also offers some solutions to fix the problem.

Remember that 100% of your income tax is being used to fund this program.

Teachers Health Plan - Part II

As Bil Danielson says, “I believe this is critically important information that every taxpayer, parent, and, yes, teacher should be armed with as they enter the voting booth next Tuesday, April 5th.”
