Note to Wisconsin Bloggers
As I mentioned yesterday, it is great to see the Wisconsin blogosphere becoming a creature with self awareness. The Badger Blog Alliance is a very new part of the Wisconsin blogging community, but we want to become a very active part of it. Several bloggers had tossed about the idea of a Wisconsin blogging community late last year, and I decided to take a stab at organizing one. Drew at Darn Floor and Lucas at Wild Wisconsin have played big roles in this site starting to find its feet, and all of you who have linked here have helped as well. Having said that, I think the time is appropriate to let everyone know where we are going with this.
As stated at the top of the page, our goal is to make Wisconsin a red state in 2008 (even though it could already be a red state). Another of our goals is to create a network of Wisconsin blogs. To accomplish this, two things will be taking place in this second phase of building the Badger Blog Alliance. First, I would like to see 4 to 8 active, participating members of the Badger Blog Alliance. To be an active member, the view point of your home blog will be generally conservative. Also, the Badger Blog Alliance must be linked to at your site, and you should post rather regularly to the Badger Blog Alliance on Wisconsin topics. I'm very loose on how you post within those guidelines, though. Some early styles are cross posts from members' home blogs, mentions of things seen on other Wisconsin blogs, and original, Badger Blog exclusive pieces. Your home blog should remain your primary blog, but your presence at Badger Blog Alliance should be noticeable if we are going to accomplish our goals, even if your presence is made largely of cross posts from your home site.
We have not actively recruited anyone for posting memberships of the Badger Blog Alliance yet. All participants have been volunteers. Until I've made a few more improvements to the site, I do not plan on recruiting members, but eventually, I do plan to do so. If you are a Wisconsin blogger but not an active member, you will be part of the Wisconsin blogroll. I have not built the blogroll yet, but I plan on doing so this week. If you are a blog that should be listed and want to be listed, let me know. We've received a number of links in the last week, and for that we are very grateful. I do not want anyone to think that we are not appreciative because there hasn't been a link back yet. It is coming.
If you are interested in being a member, being part of the blogroll, or if you just have questions, you can leave them here in the comments section or you can email me at ojibway7rj-at-gmail-dot-com. Thanks for the great week everyone, and we look forward to working with you all this year.
