And Stay Off!

Not too long ago Barak Obama says the right "kidnapped" religion and the religious voter:
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Sen. Barack Obama told a church convention Saturday that some right- wing evangelical leaders have exploited and politicized religious beliefs in an effort to sow division.

"Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked," the Democratic presidential candidate said in remarks prepared for delivery before the national meeting of the United Church of Christ.

"Part of it's because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who've been all too eager to exploit what divides us," the Illinois senator said.

Barak said that before the national convention of the United Church of Christ back in June of '07. Anyway, I commented fully on that back then.

Now he says:
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

Hmmm, does that sound like the same view of religion to you? So is religion something "typical white people" cling to like a security blanket or is it a vital uniting force kidnapped by the right?

Its more like the left kicked religion off of the bus. Obama being a Harvard educated Democrat fits right in with the stereotype of those showing religion the door and here we have Obama essentially asking What's the Matter with Kansas.

Now, I know there are deeply religious people who vote Democrat (a deacon in my church is annoyingly outspoken about this outside of Church) but they are more and more becoming the exception than the rule (unless we want to talk about the strain of faith such as Jeremiah Wright). It was not just Bill Donahue who objected when John Edwards elevated Amanda Marcotte & Melissa McKewen again we turn to Ben Smith:
As the flap over alleged anti-Catholic writings by two John Edwards campaign bloggers devolves into a shouting match between conservative religious voices and liberal bloggers, some members of the "religious left" say they feel – again – shoved to the margins of the Democratic Party.

"We're completely invisible to this debate," said Eduardo Penalver, a Cornell University law professor who writes for the liberal Catholic journal Commonweal. He said he was dissatisfied with the Edwards campaign's response. "As a constituency, the Christian left isn't taken all that seriously," Penalver said.

That is, the religious left is walking around with kick-me signs and are laughed at when not in the room.

This Oughta Be Fun

This puts a new twist on the phrase "Act of God" I suppose...

Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers has a new target these days: God.

Chambers filed a lawsuit in Douglas County Court Friday afternoon. However, Chambers isn't suing God because he has any kind of beef with the deity. He says the suit is to fight possible laws restricting the filing of frivolous lawsuits.

Chambers' suit asks for a "permanent injunction ordering Defendant to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats."

The lawsuit identifies the plaintiff as, "the duly elected and serving State Senator from the 11th Legislative District in Omaha, Nebraska."

Chambers tells KPTM FOX 42 News that his lawsuit is in response to bills brought forth by other state senators to try and stop lawsuits from being filed. "The Constitution requires that the courthouse doors be open, so you cannot prohibit the filing of suits," Chambers says. "Anyone can sue anyone they choose, even God."

Chambers also cites that the, "defendant directly and proximately has caused, inter alia, fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornados, pestilential plagues..."

Chambers bases his ability to sue God, as, "that defendant, being omnipresent, is personally present in Douglas County."

RE: What!

I believe in a young earth, gravity, Newton's three laws of motion, photosynthesis, DNA, and quantum mechanics.

Am I an example of an incoherent intellectual mish-mash? Probably. Or I could believe God created a universe where all this can exist simultaneously. The Guy is all-powerful., while there's just me with my little pea-brain.

I'm not sure what Charlie Sykes thinks about this. Due to my job I haven't been able to listen to him for months. I've been missing out on my marching orders.

Re: Jessie Jackson and Eugene Kane two of a kind

Jesse Jackson pretends to be a spirtualist –a reverend – a man of the cloth. But, his protest amounts to little more than worship of the gun. His attempt at protest – his worship amounts to little more than attempt to appease the gun god.

Jesse Jackson mouths the words of spiritualism but neglects their meaning.

Jesus attempted to separate the tight bonds between the spiritual and the material. Man's sin does not come from the lack of washing or eating non-kosher foods, but from that within the spirit. Jesse Jackson's attempt to blame guns is akin to blaming shrimp for the sin of man.

People wonder why the the Democratic Party and religion are separate clubs?
