Friday Grumps Gun Porn: The Magnum Research BFR in .45-70

This week I give you a true "Hand Cannon" The Magnum Research BFR(Big F-cking Revolver)in .45-70. While I do not currently own this gun I used to I sold it to a friend who fell in love with it. So I have shot this gun a number of times.

This gun is a hoot to shoot it shoots a rifle cartridge the .45-70 which at one time was the standard round of the US Military. It is a very powerful round which was made famous as the round that killed many of the Buffalo taken on the Great Plains back in the late 1800's

To give you another example of how powerful the .45-70 round is a lot of guides out West carry "guide guns" that fire this round for protection from Bears and Mountain Lions.

Shooting this gun makes shooting my .44 magnum seem like shooting a .22 or 9mm

If you look at the photo you can see how big the cylinder is for holding the shells see how long it is due to it has to hold a much longer rifle cartridge.

I personally never had much trouble with the recoil due to this gun is heavy and that tends to eat up a lot of the recoil.

Zombie Repellent rating: Medium to low the BFR only holds 5 rounds and is single action you must manually cock it after every shot. Now the round will most likely cut a Zombie in half, but I would not want to be taking on a mob of flesh eaters with this gun though if it ran out of ammo you could grab it by the barrel and use it as a very heavy and expensive war club ;)

This gun is not for the faint of heart but for those of you that love to hunt with hand guns you cannot go wrong with this Hand Cannon.
