Sooner or later, everything comes back to Dave Barry

I very much enjoyed the lede to this story on Yahoo News today:

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's economic recovery plan is on track to pass the Senate after a handful of moderate Republicans and Democrats forced more than $100 billion in cuts in programs that wouldn't create many jobs right away.

What? You mean the government could create many jobs right away? Do they know this in Janesville?

Yeah. This reminded me of this old quote of Dave Barry's:

See, when the Government spends money, it creates jobs; whereas when the money is left in the hands of Taxpayers, God only knows what they do with it. Bake it into pies, probably. Anything to avoid creating jobs.
