Quotable
Midwestern sax-playing city boy becomes a farmer and helps found a local CSA.
“People say it's a lot of work. What's wrong with that?”
A CSA is a community-supported agricultural effort. For a share, you can have fresh, local, organic vegetables every week, in this case from June through November in the Rockford area.
I respect a guy who isn't afraid of picking up chickens and trying other things he didn't grow up with, including alternative economy ideas.
As California transplants, my family has gotten a lot of "city folk" comments from people we know here, so I get tired of the whole city/country dichotomy. Either you can hack it in a new environment because you have the chutzpah/grit, or you stay where you're comfortable - city or country.
