“Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called it ‘outrageous’…”

There’s pushback against that California appeals court decision that said parents don’t have the right to homeschool:

Countering a potentially precedent-setting appeals court decision that bars parents from educating their children at home if they lack teaching credentials, California Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell on Tuesday affirmed families' right to home school.

"There's no cause for alarm," he said Tuesday.

"I want to assure parents that chose to home school that California Department of Education policy will not change in any way as a result of this ruling," he said in a written statement. "Parents still have the right to home school in our state."
The Governator called the ruling “outrageous,” and legislators are getting set to legislate, but home-schooling parents are still worried that the ruling will set a precedent for the future unless it’s overruled by a higher court.

No mention of or reaction from the teachers’ unions in the article. When the story first broke, they were ecstatic. They get to own the kids!

I’d love to hear the honest reaction of Wisconsin’s own educracy. Mary Bell? Elizabeth Burmaster? Good opportunity to show the masses that you’re not really the all-indoctrinating hive mothers we think you are. Or, at least, a good opportunity to pretend you’re not.

More at Townhall: Hugh Hewitt interviewed two law school deans who say the ruling was wrong, and expect the California Supreme Court to overturn it.
