The Weekend.
Two big events.
Governor Doyle vetoed voter ID last Friday. The story doesn't talk about the exact timing of the veto but I heard it was late on Friday. Why so late on Friday, Governor? I think he timed it so it would not be a big news item! Governor Doyle trots out his usual excuse for the veto: "'While requiring a Voter ID bill might seem like a good idea at first, it will do nothing to correct the management and process problems that have been identified in our elections,' Governor Doyle said. 'Instead, it would make voting more difficult for about 100,000 senior citizens who don't have driver's licenses - many of whom live in nursing homes...'" Source:Wisconsin PoliticsGovernor Doyle the problem you refer to has been fixed in the bill. The problems are not limited to management it also includes fraud. You were in a position to help stop voting Fraud Governor, and you opposed the measure. Draw your own conclusions.
Another weekend development is of course related to the Governorship and that is Mark Green's official announcement of his intent to run for Governor. What a great pair of candidates we have! However, I would like to see one step down from this race and concentrate on removing Herb Kohl or Russ (a few years down the road yet).
Does the Green - Walker situation resemble the Coleman - Pawlenty situation from Minnesota? I think it does with perhaps a more difficult senatorial opponent in Kohl than Norm had in Paul Wellstone and Walter Mondale.
