Jim Doyle on Negative Campaigning
What Jim Doyle said about the negative campaign he and then-Governor McCallum were involved in (Western Wisconsin Press Club debate, October 16, 2002):
Question: Anna and I would like to hear how Mr. Doyle and Governor McCallum defend their advertising campaigns.
Doyle: Let’s stop the negative ads.
What Jim Doyle did: Jim Doyle began running attack ads against Mark Green in July of this year. He has already run three untrue attack ads. Mark Green has yet to run any such ad. Doyle also refused to sign a clean campaign pledge which included a spending limit of $5.5 million – or about $1 for every man, woman and child in Wisconsin.
