The "Hat" is Coming Back

So much for that "Lasee Switch" some of us were dreaming about.

Al Lasee (R-De Pere) has announced he's seeking re-election.

Wisconsin State Senator Alan Lasee announced that he will be seeking re-election to the 1st Senate District and filing his paperwork with the Wisconsin State Elections Board.

“I am pleased and excited to announce that I am running for the State Senate. During the past four years, I have worked on a number of legislative issues from freezing property taxes to passing a budget without any tax increases,” said Lasee.

“I am most proud of the legislation that has directly impacted my district including securing funding for a new bridge in Sturgeon Bay and a lift dock in Door County, which will create hundreds of high paying jobs, and expanding the well compensation program for local residents. This has been a productive session, but there is more work that needs to be done,” stated Lasee.

Senator Lasee was elected to the State Senate in May of 1977 and has served continuously since then. He was elected by his colleagues to serve as the Senate President in 2003 and continues to serve in this leadership role.

“I am looking forward to returning to Madison next session to help constituents with their problems and work on issue areas including affordable health care, job creation, passing a balanced budget, and protecting property rights,” said Lasee.

“It is a tremendous honor to serve the constituents of the 1st Senate District and I will continue to listen to their concerns and work hard to represent them,” concluded Lasee.
One can say many things about Al Lasee: He's got a mixed record on things like TABOR/TPA and other local limits (Lasee once moonlight as a Town Chairman.), but he's rock solid when it comes to socially conservative issues like the Marriage Amendment and concealed carry.

Take it or leave it one can say.

SD-01 is a "Safe Republican" seat. Lasee's only real challenge (if we must call it that) is from some fruit bat in the Green Party. He'll be back in Madison pushing through some form of Capital Punishment next session for sure.

But you have to love the hat.
